Mackenzie is a documentary photographer working in East Africa and the Middle East.

His area of focus settles into a balance between plight and resilience, and revolves around how people maintain and adapt tradition, culture, and a semblance of daily life in the midst of conflict and economic insecurity.


His work has been featured in print and online in The New York Times, Foreign Policy Magazine, The Guardian, The Washington Post, Christian Science Monitor, Al Jazeera, and BBC among many others.

Mackenzie holds a B.S. from Dartmouth College where he studied Human Geography and Biology. 
He speaks Spanish and Portuguese fluently, can hold his own in Chinese, and order up a handful of meals in Arabic and Kinyarwanda.


He is based in Istanbul, Turkey and is available for assignments worldwide.
